Track them down and retrieve the poor thing and teach the fools that crime doesn't pay - Dealing with it does.

Mission Description: Some goof with blue skin and tattoos has been trying to start a gang here in Kumogakure. His attempts are laughable, and he's just some punk teenager. However, it doesn't change the fact that he's gotten his hands on a (albeit cheap) steel sword and now has a small following of other youths, most likely bullied into following him about. A proper genin of Kumogakure should go teach him a lesson, and force his punk-ass out of delinquency, and into a fast food joint or something. (Goof has a Bukijutsu 2, Taijutsu 1, other 2 youths have Taijutsu 1)

Katsuro had just received his first mission report a few moments ago. He was still mulling over the fact he was truly a shinobi and he was getting ready to serve his country. He was just waiting for his teammate in the mission. He didn't recognize the name but he was told she was a decent shinobi despite being a bit young. He didn't know how to take that information but he was certain that they would be able to get along. After all, he was a nice guy. Especially when Blueberry muffins were involved. He really loved blueberry muffins. The meeting area was one of the oak trees near the old lady's house. Close enough to watch for informants but far enough away to avoid suspicion.

Kai had no desire at all to go on any sort of mission that interfered with her morning schedule, but alas the blonde couldn't refuse her father when he gave her a direct order. Though she was doing as she was told which was to meet some other person of the same rank as her underneath an oak tree near an old ladies house. She wasn't aware of the elderly woman's name, but she knew of the house since she had passed by the place several times as she made her way to a pastry shop within the neighborhood. Nice place, but not somewhere she would live. She liked her current place of residence at the moment and she hoped to stay there until she was old and grey, or deceased which ever came first.

Despite being forced into this mission, Kai was happy as she skipped down the road of Kumogakure, making her way to the meeting spot at a decent pace. She would arrive last, yellow eyes glancing over a white-haired boy that looked oddly familiar, but she couldn't figure out where she had seen him before. No matter, he would be dubbed some doughnut name and immediately forgotten after this mission was over. So, she skipped over to him, waving a hand. "Yo."

Katsuro had grown bored waiting for his companion to arrive at the meeting location. He didn't know whether he should be thankful he had time to his own thoughts or anxious in meeting a new person. Still, he had to occupy his mind somehow, and thus retreated deep into his mind to play over the mission briefing. Some idiot thieves broke into an old lady's home and stole her prized pooch named Muffins. The one million ryo bounty was obnoxiously over estimated and thus the shinobi were called in to deal with the problem. Katsuro still had no idea why they had chosen Genin to do this mission but he wasn't going to argue with it.

The yo from his companion brought him instantly out of the mind palace as he stood and stretched. He recognized those yellow eyes immediately and sighed. She acted as if she didn't recognize him but maybe that was for best. The confrontation in the Bakery wasn't fun.

"Yo, Katsuro Michiki. I assume you've been filled in on the mission?"

Kat- Well that must be a record for Kai. She had forgotten the name of her partner as soon as it had left his mouth and thus there was no hope that she would be able to conjure up even remotely close to it. She should definitely document this somewhere special so that she could strive to beat it, but that idea was pretty much shoved to the back of her mind as she focused a quarter of her attention on the white-haired boy, the rest of her focus being dedicated to the various doughnuts she would be purchasing after the completion of this mission. There was also the case of the boy's nickname, but she would think of some doughnut that hadn't been associated with a person already later. Right now, she needed to get this mission done as quickly as possible so she could hit the nearest doughnut shop as quickly as possible.

"Something about a ransom," she said, a thoughtful look crossing her face as she tapped her index finger against her chin. She cocked her head to the side, "doesn't matter, does it?"

"Doesn't really. Our job is to find the dog and return it while delivering justice to the thieves. Easily enough. They left a trail of dog feces behind them as they ran away. At least I assume its dog feces. The old lady is quite intimidating."

Katsuro motioned for Kai to follow him towards the trail of feces that led the way. Apparently the dog had a liquid diet and ate quite a lot of food for something that was supposed to be a pooch. Still Katsuro would require help with this one. His focus was more on weapons that anything. What he lacked in other areas of skill he was sure his companion would help compensate for.

"Watch your step, don't want that stuff to get on your bare feet. Now I reckon these thieves didn't get far with a dog in toe shitting. So I say if we follow the foot steps that are with the dog crap, we should make pretty good time on mission. I guess crime doesn't attract the brightest of individuals, does it."

He didn't stop at the start of the footprints, however, he just continued off i the direction the went, unless his companion tried to argue with him. Then he would hear her out before proceeding.

A quizzical look graced the blonde's face, but she refrained from firing off one of the many questions that had popped into her head. One pertained to why the thieves took a dog that was obviously in need of a toilet and if they had grabbed the dog before it began its bowl movements, she wondered how they totally missed that. In Kai's opinion, any competent person should've noticed that the dog was creating a trail with its bowl movements and done something about it, but no one had told her she was dealing with anyone with a brain in this situation. There were a couple of other questions that came to mind, but her focused shifted away from that. She made sure to avoid stepping on the remnants of the dog's meal as her yellow eyes stayed on the white-haired boy. She didn't feel a need to examine the poop, only one of them needed to do that and the boy had taken that role. Without exchanging any words with her partner that could be taken as a sign of protest, the girl followed the boy.

The trail went cold after a few minutes of following it but after a few minutes of questioning passersby and they learned about a possible location the thieves may have gone to hide until their ransom was made. Roughly half an hour of searching led the group to a set of rundown warehouses that had been eradicated of the criminal element a few months back which offered either the worse or best hiding location for wannabe criminals. What wasn't destroyed by previous attempts to arrest criminals offered a stable platform to operate from until people realized gangs were operating out of them again. Like now. Still they had a job to do.

Katsuro approached the warehouse a young couple had heard dog barking from before stopping. They needed a plan of action before they continued. First thing he did do was draw his sword from the scabbard. The steel sword would be useful in dispatching any of the enemies and frightening the rest into submission before being arrested. He looked at his companion with a half smile.

"Looks like this is the warehouse that couple was talking about. I say we split up and you go left while I go right. Use speed and surprise to take out the idiots inside before trying to get them to surrender. If they don't, stop them any means necessary. Sound good?"

Warehouse? What a stereotypical place for petty thieves and small time criminals to hide. She was aware that much larger crime rings used warehouses, but those people were usually smart enough to give the warehouse a front so that it didn't seem suspicious. Whomever had stolen the dog however had picked a rundown one, something that was bound to cause attention if people noticed - they always noticed here. Perhaps next time the thief would be a little smarter when picking his next hideout, but that implied that he would be released from Kumogakure's prison before he was old and frail. Don't get her wrong, her village wasn't handing out huge prison sentences, but if these thieves had a prior record with the law, she assumed they did, there would be no mercy when it comes to their sentencing. They would've been better off doing some honest work.

Yellow eyes glanced at the boy, her mind having processed his plan which was a little different than hers. What would've been her suggestion? Smoke out the thieves and beat them into they were indistinguishable before going in and retrieving the elderly lady's dog. She wasn't sure which was best, but she guessed the boy's plan worked well enough too. So, nodding her head, she went left, activating her Byakugan once she away from the boy. Yellow eyes would turn milky white and with her doujutsu active the blonde was able to see the thieves that were inside the building clearly. If she counted right, there were five within the building, two of which seemed to be patrolling the edge of the hideout whilst the others were gathered in the middle. She assumed they were discussing something, probably something that pertained to the dog, but she couldn't be sure.

With that knowledge in hand, she entered the warehouse from a broken window located at the top. She stayed low, her hands placed firmly on the beam she had perched on upon entering the warehouse. She was directly over the group of three. Kai didn't attack them yet despite her advantageous position - the stupid dog was with them. Her eyes narrowed before flickering around the room, relocating the two that had been on patrol before she had entered the building as well as the boy who was her partner. She would wait for his entrance before she struck for he would be a good distraction.

Katsuro watched his colleague disappear into a window towards the top of the warehouse. Sighing, he could only think that she at least went in the direction specified by him. He paused for a moment longer to catch his breath and to sheath his sword back. He wouldn't cause life-threatening damage if he could help it and the metal scabbard would assist him on that. He quickly rapped the leather strap around the Tsuba before gripping the handle tightly. The leather strap would make it harder for the blade to slip free by accident but also make it difficult to pull the blade free if need be.

One more deep breath and he pressed once more unto the breach. Slowly he opened the door enough to slip in quietly. Hoping not to attract attention of the guards. But alas luck was not on his side this day. A quick shout of alarm was all he needed for him to get into the ready position. Sheathed sword held vertically in front of him, tip aimed for the heavens. He was ready. The two guards on patrol were the first ones to reach him. They pulled out billy clubs with the intent of braining the poor young shinobi. Katsuro would have none of it. One quick parry resulted in the pommel of his Katana being driving into the teeth of the suspect. The other guy managed to get a shot on the back of Katsuro's knee before the genin could slap the hard steel of the scabbard across the man's ear and jaw. The first guy was spitting teeth in blood as Katsuro stepped into the attack again. Bringing a downward slash on the deaf man's shoulder.

All he could think of at the moment was that hopefully his compatriot was able to get in undetected. If she could get the dog out of harm's way, he could handle these delinquents rather soundly. But as of right now, he was trying to keep an eye on the pooch in the hopes that it won't be harmed during the confrontation.

Kai sighed deeply. It seemed her partner hadn’t been aware that hoping through the window would be a better way of entering the building discreetly. Seriously, who enters from the door as if no one is possibly patrolling the area waiting for a punk or shinobi, sometimes even both, to waltz into the building as a rescue attempt? She wasn’t going to think him an absolute idiot because of this since she had the benefits of being able to see how many people were in the building as well as where they were, but she didn’t think him particularly smart either. It was no matter though, the two guards had been distracted by the boy and the attention of the other three was focused on one thing - the boy.

She dropped down from her perch on the beam directly behind the one with the dog in their hand - he having scooped up the poor animal when her partner came into the room. Her landing hadn’t been as silent as she wished it was, but the sound of her partnering combating the two guards that had charged him masked any noise she had made. With a thrust to his back, her presence was made known by the other two. Yet, she didn’t stick around to fight the two men, scooping up the puppy that had been unceremoniously dropped to the ground and jumping back to the beam that loomed above the remaining two. Kai wasn’t concerned about the one she dropped, he be unable to move for a hot minute and so her partner should be able to make easy work of the other two - it wasn’t like the posed a threat to two very capable shinobi of Kumogakure.
